There are two types of vegan:
There’s the vegan who is all in, making their own toothpaste from dry bark and possum spit, hand-sewing their own clothes made from the hemp grown (and liberally smoked) in their backyard, and spending 16 hours out of every day crafting the finest plant-based cuisine from the purest organic ingredients right down to the Durum wheat used in their hand-rolled pasta.
Then there’s the vegan who… isn’t!
Whether it’s a lacklustre desire to spend hours in the kitchen, a weakness for more indulgent dishes or simply not knowing where to start, there are literally hundreds of vegan cookbooks out there to help you along. But — just like the types of vegans — there are types of cookbooks too. Some require lots of equipment, take three hours for the simplest recipe and require a degree in food science! Others are quick, easy, tasty and deliciously indulgent!
I love collecting and trying out new recipes. Here are seven of my favorite entry-level cookbooks for real men who want to eat plants, but also want simple dishes with masses of flavor:
